Introduction:-

Hello Dear viewers, welcome to my "Facebook Cover Photo Template" Design Photoshop Tutorial. This tutorial is about designing a professional Facebook cover photo in Adobe Photoshop CC. In this tutorial, I will show you step by step how to make a creative Facebook cover art in Adobe Photoshop. If you follow the steps below, I hope you can do this design too. Collect the stock files before starting the work. So let's begin the tutorial without further ado.

This Facebook Cover Photo Template Information-

  • -Size- 851x315px
  • -Color Mode- RGB
  • -Template Type- PSD

Stock Files-

I used the latest version of Adobe Photoshop to design this Facebook cover. So if you want to make this FB cover template, you must need adobe photoshop. I prefer to use the earlier version of photoshop. However, now we need to create an artboard where we will do the design.

For this, we open Adobe Photoshop and click on Create New to create a new artboard document. Or press Ctrl+N from your keyboard. Now type a document name. I type "Facebook Cover Art Design" you can type any name you want. After that, I put the size of the template. The size is 851px width and height 315px. The Resolution of this document is 300px. And the color mode is RGB color mode. After doing all this, I click on the blue Create button to create a new design artboard document. Our design artboard is ready now we can design on it.

After creating the design artboard, We will bring stock photos from our computer. You can see Layer 1 And Layer 2 are both is stock photos. However, We have to bring all the stock images used in the design from the computer store. To do this, go to File>Open and select all images that you want to bring.

Now click on Open. Then you will see that each image is opening in a separate tab. After it happens, drag those two images (Layer 1 & Layer2) into the main design artboard. (Note: The image you first bring to the main design artboard will automatically be created a name as a layer 1.) Keep in mind, The black and white texture image layer must stay down, and the blue texture image layer image will be above it. Now change the Layer 2 mode Normal to Overlay.

At this stage, we will create a Layer Mask of layer 2. To create a layer mask, first active the layer, then click on the layer mask icon. You can see in the screenshot I have marked the layer mask icon with a white color small border. After making the layer mask, click on the white mask area of the layer and then click on the Brush Tool from the menu bar.

Now choose a Soft Round Brush from there. Now run the soft brush over the part you want to delete. When using the soft round brush, make sure the foreground color is black. And the background color is white. If your select the foreground color black, then the soft brush will work as an eraser. Or if you choose white color as foreground color, Then it will recover the area you have deleted. I hope you understand the matter. After doing these, drag and drop the final background stock photo on the design artboard. You can see the last stock photo name created Layer 3. Now make the layer mode Normal to Soft Light.

In this step, we need to bring the image of the model. Before doing this, we need to create five rectangle shapes. To make those rectangles shapes, I use the Rectangle Tool. After that, I arranged these rectangle shapes. You can see the screenshot slider that has marked those five shapes. Now we have to separate those three shapes where we put the model image.

After separating, we just marge these shapes and convert them to a Smart Object. So that, we could Clipping Mask the model photo into it. To convert those layers to Smart Object, activate those three layers and Right-click on them, then you will find the convert to smart object option. After doing this, we will do clipping mask the model with the Smart Object shape. To do clipping mask, we have to put the model photo on top of the smart object layers and hold Alt+Ctrl+Shift and Click on the model photo. After setting the model photo, we will apply the Drop Shadow on the shapes. To apply drop shadow, double-click on the layer to open its Blending Options. Now check the drop shadow box to apply drop shadow behind

In this part, we will add lighting effects around the shapes and background. Since the model image used in this tutorial is pink that we will use pink light. To do this, we first need to create a Blank Layer. You can see in the screenshot I have marked the (+ icon) box. Click here to create an empty layer. Now click on the Brush Tool and select a Lighting Brush. Now run the lighting brush over the part you want to add lights. Before you run the brush, make sure the Foreground color is pink that we get pink light.

In the last step, we use the lighting brush once more to extend the lighting effect. To make it, again make a blank layer and use the same brush and same foreground color. Then run the brush over the design canvas. Now change the layer mode Normal to Linear Dodge (Add). When you change the layer mode, you will see the lighting is more extensive and brighter than before. When you have done the lighting effect, click on the Type Tool from the photoshop right sidebar and type the text that you need in the banner. Our design is complete. Now we can use this Facebook cover photo on your page or group.
